last week in my visual studies class, one guy admitted to being able to see colors when he hears music and it also puts him in a particular mood.
the term for this ability is:
synesthesia: the crossing over of senses
he continued to say he even explains music in a way seems unorthodox to others.
professor houk said sometimes it arisings from an experience we have as children that sticks with us.
after hearing this i was jealous -
i mean who wouldn't want to hear in color?
then this morning while sleeping i smelled this smell i have smelled since i was young. it's this rusty, burning plastic smell (i've never smelled plastic burning but that's how i describe it) and the smell could distrub many people, but it had the ability to completely wake me from a deep sleep because of the emotional distress it causes me.
the smell is extremely potent to my senses.
i'm not sure this smell even exist in real life. but i think i started to smell when i was playing with a toy as a fairly young child.
and it's a smell i can't escape -holding my breath doesn't work or trying to smell something else.
it's embedded in my brain. and it will occur every few months. i went two years without smelling it, but it always returns. and it will reappear and leave within a span of 30 minutes.
and it's a very emotional time. i become very upset and irritated, but i don't even know why.
although it's not synethesia. i know be careful what you wish for.
